consciously nonlucid
I imagine a videocamera focused on Earth with space in the corners
just as I recognize a continent it shrinks in size before our eyes
it's panning out, zooming out from our massive breathing asteroid
I see the moon now and a moment later our small sunlit system
out and out faster then slower and faster yet again
the galaxy the Milky Way fills the screen then is half and less
and all the stars I once believed so distant so inaccessible
rapidly rushing together to form microelectrons and atoms
then molecules becoming cells and layers
of what?
of skin, of bark, of grass that clothe the shapes
the hills the trees and the people that inhabit
the universe above and outside our own where time
thier time an instant of their time exceeds our most fathomable existence
and I shudder
I look at my skin and I understand our universe contracts and expands
and it must end
and it must begin again a million times the same
a trillion times different
for each penstroke each blink of an eye captures
the birth and death of a thousand universes
we are nothing and yet infinite
every ant a mob of angry asteroid fields
every mushroom a brooding cult of delicious black holes
every pimple a gathering of unstable nebulae anxious to explode
and for what purpose?
this is my dream inside another
